This database is a project to assist wilderness rescue (mountain, K9, off-road, cave) teams in keeping track of their members and activities using a common database so that cross-organisational information is automatically maintained. It is hoped that this database will assist in a number of ways. A major by-product of this is detecting trends which will help :
- Rescue teams to focus training on scenarios they're likely to face
- Mountaineering instructors to improve training in problem activities
- Mountain rescue teams to tailor technical equipment and medical supplies.
- Land owners to detect high-frequency accident or 'get-lost' areas and adjust signage / maps
